A review. Resveratrol, a natural polyphenolic stilbenoid widely found in grapes and wines, displays beneficial properties such as cardio-protective, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Trans-resveratrol (RSV) is the most bioactive and more abundant stereoisomer found in nature. Despite the pos. properties of RSV, there are various factors that limit its effectiveness, including low aqueous solubility, low oral bioavailability and chem. instability. During the last years, an increasing number of strategies such as nano and micro encapsulation have been developed in order to overcome these limitations and enhance the use of RSV in nutritional and pharmaceutical applications. This Review summarizes the advances and main properties of several RSV carriers and delivery systems reported during the last 5 years.

Fraga, Cesar G.; Croft, Kevin D.; Kennedy, David O.; Tomas-Barberan, Francisco A. published the artcile< The effects of polyphenols and other bioactives on human health>, Product Details of C14H12O3, the main research area is review polyphenols quercetin cerebral blood flow.

A review. Although deficiencies in polyphenol intake do not result in specific deficiency diseases, adequate intake of polyphenols could confer health benefits, especially with regard to chronic diseases. Tea, cocoa, fruits, and berries, as well as vegetables, are rich in polyphenols. Flavan-3-ols from cocoa have been found to be associated with a reduced risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and diabetes, as well as improvements in lipids, endothelial-dependent blood flow and blood pressure, insulin resistance, and systemic inflammation. The flavonoid quercetin and the stilbene resveratrol have also been associated with cardiometabolic health. Although polyphenols have been associated with improved cerebral blood flow, evidence of an impact on cognition is more limited. The ability of dietary polyphenols to produce clin. effects may be due, at least in part, to a bi-directional relationship with the gut microbiota. Polyphenols can impact the composition of the gut microbiota (which are independently associated with health benefits), and gut bacteria metabolize polyphenols into bioactive compounds that produce clin. benefits. Another critical interaction is that of polyphenols with other phytochems., which could be relevant to interpreting the health parameter effects of polyphenols assayed as purified extracts, whole foods, or whole food extracts

A review. The prevalence of neurodegenerative disorders characterized by the loss of neuronal function is rapidly increasing. The pathogenesis of the majority of these diseases is not entirely clear, but current evidence has shown the possibility that autophagy, apoptosis, inflammation and oxidative stress are involved. The present review summarizes the therapeutic effects of resveratrol on neurodegenerative disorders, based on the especially mol. biol. of these diseases. The PubMed, Cochrane, Web of Science and Scopus databases were searched for studies published in English until March 30th, 2019 that contained data for the role of inflammation, oxidative stress, angiogenesis and apoptosis in the neurodegenerative disorders. There are also studies documenting the role of mol. processes in the progression of central nervous system diseases. Based on current evidence, resveratrol has potential properties that may reduce cell damage due to inflammation. This polyphenol affects cellular processes, including autophagy and the apoptosis cascade under stressful conditions. Current evidence supports the beneficial effects of resveratrol on the therapy of neurodegenerative disorders.

A review. Extensive research over the past 25 years in hormone-dependent cancers, such as breast cancer and prostate cancer, has identified the mol. mechanisms driven by steroid receptors, elucidating the interplay between genomic and non-genomic steroid receptors mechanism of action. Altogether, these mechanisms create the specific gene expression programs that contribute to endocrine therapy resistance and cancer progression. These findings, on the bidirectional mol. crosstalk between steroid and growth factor receptors pathways in endocrine resistance, suggest the use of multi-target inhibitors together with endocrine therapies, for treating resistant disease. In this review we will discuss the novel understanding on the chemopreventive and anti-cancer activities of Resveratrol (3,5,4′-trihydroxy-stilbene) (RSV), a phytoalexin found in grapes acting on a plethora of targets. We will highlight Resveratrol effect on steroid receptors signalling and its potential use in the treatment of hormone-dependent cancer. Understanding the mol. mechanisms by which the bioactive compound influences cancer cell behavior, by interfering with steroid receptors functional activity, will help to advance the design of combination strategies to increase the rate of complete and durable clin. response in patients.

Human red blood cells (RBC) can be studied by means of whole-cell and nystatin-perforated patch-clamp techniques. In 85% of the whole-cell experiments (n=86) and 69% of the perforated-patch recordings (n=13), steps to pos. potentials, from a holding potential of 0 mV, induced a slow-activating non-inactivating persistent outward current which reverted at about 0 mV. The current activation phase fitted well with a two-component exponential curve. Half-maximal conductance was reached at about 42 mV. Na+ and K+ carried this current, which was not affected by 20 nM charybdotoxin or 20 mM TEA, but was reduced following a partial substitution of extracellular Cl- by tartrate. This current has characteristics similar to the single-channel currents already described in RBC and may be involved in the rapid adaptations of these cells in the circulation.

Ivanovic, Stefan; Mandrone, Manuela; Simic, Katarina; Ristic, Mirjana; Todosijevic, Marina; Mandic, Boris; Godevac, Dejan published the artcile< GC-MS-based metabolomics for the detection of adulteration in oregano samples>, Computed Properties of 87-73-0, the main research area is GCMS metabolomic detection adulteration oregano sample.

Oregano is one of the most used culinary herb and it is often adulterated with cheaper plants. In this study, GC-MS was used for identification and quantification of metabolites from 104 samples of oregano (Origanum vul-gare and O. onites) adulterated with olive (Olea europaea), venetian sumac (Cotinus coggygria) and myrtle (Myrtus communis) leaves, at five different concentration levels. The metabolomics profiles obtained after the two-step derivatization, involving methoxyamination and silanization, were subjected to multivariate data anal. to reveal markers of adulteration and to build the regression models on the basis of the oregano-to-adulterants mixing ratio. Orthogonal partial least squares enabled detection of oregano adulterations with olive, Venetian sumac and myrtle leaves. Sorbitol levels distinguished oregano samples adulterated with olive leaves, while shikimic and quinic acids were recognized as discrimination factor for adulteration of oregano with venetian sumac. Fructose and quinic acid levels correlated with oregano adulteration with myrtle. Orthogonal partial least squares discriminant anal. enabled dis-crimination of O. vulgare and O. onites samples, where catechollactate was found to be discriminating metabolite.

Yongpisanphop, J. published the artcile< Searching for a plant species having a potent bioherbicide using in silico approach>, SDS of cas: 87-73-0, the main research area is Medicago bioherbicide L2 Aminoadipate aldisine weed control.

Toxic herbicide residue in the environment is one of the most important problems in the world, especially in the agricultural country. To solve this problem, an effectively new bioherbicide needs to be discovered urgently. This motivated to search the novel bioherbicide. In silico technique has been accepted as a promising tool to discover new active compounds Based on 2D structural similarity, 18 new natural compounds were obtained from the KNApSAcK database. Among the structural leads, 12 natural phyto-compounds were selected to calculate the lowest free energy of binding value using mol. docking. Comp_7 and Comp_10 showed the lowest free energy of binding -7.84 and -7.43 kcal/mol resp. which were similar to glyphosate (-8.49 kcal/mol). Based on the binding interaction using ProteinsPlus program, a natural phyto-compound (Comp_7: L-2-Aminoadipate) was identified as a potential bioherbicide. It could be found in Medicago sativa L. Significantly, this procedure becomes a high powerful tool to increase the probability to discover the new potent bioherbicide and identify the plant host species for weed control. Moreover, M. sativa should be extracted to test the property of weed control for further study.

Jakubczyk, Karolina; Skonieczna-Zydecka, Karolina; Kaldunska, Justyna; Stachowska, Ewa; Gutowska, Izabela; Janda, Katarzyna published the artcile< Effects of resveratrol supplementation in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease-a meta-analysis>, Name: (E)-5-(4-Hydroxystyryl)benzene-1,3-diol, the main research area is meta analysis resveratrol hepatoprotectant nonalcoholic fatty liver disease; Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD); meta-analysis; resveratrol.

Non-alc. fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is regarded as one of the most common liver pathologies in many societies. Resveratrol, as a phenolic compound with powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties exerting pos. effects on the lipid profile and lipid accumulation and also on insulin resistance, appears to be an effective, natural, and safe complementary treatment option in NAFLD therapy. This meta-anal. was undertaken to evaluate the effects of resveratrol supplementation in NAFLD patients. To this end, scientific databases PubMed/Medline/Embase were searched up to 19 March 2020. We included seven randomized clin. trials (RCTs) with a total of 302 patients with NAFLD. In all the trials included in the anal., resveratrol was administered daily over periods between 56 and 180 days in doses ranging from 500 mg to 3000 mg a day. The results of this meta-anal. reveal that resveratrol supplementation, irresp. of the dose or duration, did not affect the analyzed parameters (p < 0.05). The sole exception was an increase in alanine aminotransferase following the administration of resveratrol (p = 0.041). Currently available evidence is insufficient to confirm the efficacy of resveratrol in the management of NAFLD. Due to the inconsistencies between the existing scientific reports, a number of which found a pos. effect on NAFLD-related parameters; further research in this area is needed. Mousavi, S. M.; Milajerdi, A.; Sheikhi, A.; Kord-Varkaneh, H.; Feinle-Bisset, C.; Larijani, B.; Esmaillzadeh, A. published the artcile< Resveratrol supplementation significantly influences obesity measures: a systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials>, Name: (E)-5-(4-Hydroxystyryl)benzene-1,3-diol, the main research area is meta analysis resveratrol supplementation body weight mass index obesity; dose-response; meta-analysis; obesity; resveratrol; weight.

Summary : This study aimed to summarize earlier randomized controlled trials on the effects of resveratrol supplementation on body weight (BW), body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC) and fat mass (FM). We searched PubMed, SCOPUS, Cochrane Library and Google Scholar from inception to Apr. 2018 using relevant keywords. All clin. trials investigating the effects of resveratrol supplementation on BW, BMI, WC and FM in adults were included. Overall, 28 trials were included. Pooled effect sizes suggested a significant effect of resveratrol administration on weight (weighted mean differences [WMD]: -0.51 kg, 95% confidence interval [CI]: -0.94 to -0.09; I2 = 50.3%, P = 0.02), BMI (WMD: -0.17 kg m-2, 95% CI: -0.32, -0.03; I2 = 49.6%, P = 0.02) and WC (WMD: -0.79 cm, 95% CI: -1.39, -0.2; I2 = 13.4%, P = 0.009), resp. However, no significant effect of resveratrol supplementation on FM was found (WMD: -0.36%, 95% CI: -0.88, 0.15; I2 = 0.0%, P = 0.16). Findings from subgroup anal. revealed a significant reduction in BW and BMI in trials using resveratrol at the dosage of <500 mg d-1, those with long-term interventions (≥3 mo), and performed on people with obesity. Taken together, the data suggest that resveratrol supplementation has beneficial effects to reduce BW, BMI and WC, but not FM.
