Using GC/MS: Method Development, Validation, and Application>, Reference of 78-70-6, the main research area is terpene Cannabis sativa gas chromatog mass spectrometry.

Terpenes are the major components of the essential oils present in various Cannabis sativaL. varieties. These compounds are responsible for the distinctive aromas and flavors. Besides the quantification of the cannabinoids, determination of the terpenes in C. sativastrains could be of importance for the plant selection process. At the University of Mississippi, a GC-MS method has been developed and validated for the quantification of terpenes in cannabis plant material, viz., α-pinene, β-pinene, β-myrcene, limonene, terpinolene, linalool, α-terpineol, β-caryophyllene, α-humulene, and caryophyllene oxide. The method was optimized and fully validated according to AOAC (Association of Official Anal. Chemists) guidelines against reference standards of selected terpenes. Samples were prepared by extraction of the plant material with Et acetate containing n-tridecane solution (100μg/mL) as the internal standard The concentration-response relationship for all analyzed terpenes using the developed method was linear with r 2values > 0.99. The average recoveries for all terpenes in spiked indoor cultivated samples were between 95.0 – 105.7%, with the exception of terpinolene (67 – 70%). The measured repeatability and intermediate precisions (% relative standard deviation) in all varieties ranged from 0.32 to 8.47%. The limit of detection and limit of quantitation for all targeted terpenes were determined to be 0.25 and 0.75μg/mL, resp. The proposed method is highly selective, reliable, and accurate and has been applied to the simultaneous determination of these major terpenes in the C. sativabiomass produced by our facility at the University of Mississippi as well as in confiscated marijuana samples.

D.; Simoncini, T. published the artcile< Cranberry, D-mannose and anti-inflammatory agents prevent lower urinary tract symptoms in women undergoing prolapse surgery>, Recommanded Product: (2S,3S,4R,5R)-2,3,4,5,6-Pentahydroxyhexanal, the main research area is mannose anti inflammatory agent human urinary tract prolapse surgery; Cystocele; lower urinary tract symptoms; nutritional supplements; pelvic organ prolapse.

We assessed the effect on lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) of a supplement containing cranberry, D-mannose and anti-inflammatory mols. in postmenopausal women undergoing surgery for cystocele. Forty postmenopausal women were randomized 1:1 to an active group receiving the nutritional supplement twice a day for 2 wk starting from surgery, or to a control group receiving surgery only. Primary outcomes were the effectiveness in the postoperative LUTS and urinary tract infections (UTI). LUTS were investigated by a validated questionnaire (ICIQ-FLUTS) at baseline and at week 4. Secondary outcomes were the safety and tolerability of the supplement and other perioperative outcomes. No significant differences were found in perioperative outcomes and in incidence of UTI. After surgery, women treated with the supplement experienced significantly better scores on the filling domain of the questionnaire. A non-significant decrease in voiding scores was also found. No adverse events were detected. The use of an oral supplement containing cranberry, D-mannose and anti-inflammatory mols. decreases the perception of LUTS in postmenopausal women after anterior colporraphy. Our data suggest that perioperative use of nutritional supplements may be useful in the management of postoperative LUTS.

The photoracemization of chiral alkyl aryl sulfoxides with a photosensitizer has not been sufficiently investigated thus far. Therefore, in this study, a rapid photoracemization reaction of enantiopure alkyl aryl sulfoxides using 1 mol % 2,4,6-triphenylpyrylium tetrafluoroborate (TPT+) was developed. Various substitution patterns were tolerated and every racemization reaction proceeded extremely fast (k2 = 1.77 x 104-6.08 x 101 M-1s-1, t1/2 = 0.4-114 s). Some chiral sulfoxides with easily oxidizable functional groups are not appropriate for this photoisomerization. The electrochem. potentials of the functional groups, determined via cyclic voltammetry, are useful for predicting the reactive or nonreactive groups in this photoracemization reaction. A calculation study was conducted to clarify the sp2-like nature of S of the sulfoxide cation radical, which makes photoracemization easier.

Papanastasiou, Stella A.; Ioannou, Charalampos S.; Papadopoulos, Nikos T. published the artcile< Oviposition-deterrent effect of linalool - a compound of citrus essential oils - on female Mediterranean fruit flies, Ceratitis capitata (Diptera: Tephritidae)>, COA of Formula: C10H18O, the main research area is Citrus Malus Ceratitis oviposition essential oil linalool; egg-laying; host; medfly; repellent effect.

We tested whether different linalool concentrations, application methods on fruit hosts and time since application elicited oviposition-deterrence on medfly, from bitter oranges, apples and nectarines, under constant laboratory conditions. We also tested possible repellent properties of linalool on adult medflies in field conditions. Females drilled fewer oviposition stings and deposited fewer eggs per fruit in all linalool-treated hosts. Spraying and topical-droplet application were the most efficient methods on bitter oranges, although spraying was the least effective method in apples. Bitter oranges and nectarines that were offered to females immediately post-exposure to linalool received more oviposition stings and eggs than those offered 3 days post-exposure to linalool solutions Conversely, apples tested 3 days following linalool application received significantly more oviposition stings and eggs than those tested immediately and 1 day post-exposure. More adults in total, and more females, were captured in traps located on untreated-control than on linalool-treated trees, especially in citrus hosts. Linalool has a potential future use in environmentally friendly control strategies against C. capitata.

A new and green route to synthesize 2-hydroxyethyl n-alkyl sulfide with n-alkyl mercaptan and ethylene carbonate (EC) in the presence of alkali carbonates as catalysts and revealed the mechanism by experiments and theor. calculations The reaction reported proceeded rapidly with high yields when it was performed at 120° C and the catalytic loading is ∼1 mol%. This protocol was applicable to other mercaptans to synthesize the corresponding β-hydroxyethyl sulfide. D. functional theory-based calculations show the energy profile for the reaction pathway. The rate-determining step is the ring-opening of EC. A neg. charged O atom of alkali carbonates approached the S atom of -SH under the influence of hydrogen bonds. An activated S atom that carried more neg. charge serves as a nucleophilic reagent and assists in the ring-opening of EC by reducing the Mayer bond orders of the C1-O1 bond in EC. Alkali cations also contribute to the C1-O1 bond cleavage. The energy barrier for the ring-opening of EC decreases with the decrease of electronegativity of alkali cations. Subsequent transference of a H atom led to the formation of β-hydroxyethyl sulfide, the dissociation of CO2 and the reduction of K2CO3.

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics published new progress about Bending vibration. 492-62-6 belongs to class alcohols-buliding-blocks, and the molecular formula is C6H12O6, Electric Literature of 492-62-6.

Blasius, Jan; Elfgen, Roman; Holloczki, Oldamur; Kirchner, Barbara published the artcile< Glucose in dry and moist ionic liquid: vibrational circular dichroism, IR, and possible mechanisms>, Electric Literature of 492-62-6, the main research area is ethyl methylimidazolium acetate glucose hydrogen bond IR spectra.

Ionic liquids and their mixtures with water show remarkable features in cellulose processing. For this reason, understanding the behavior of carbohydrates in ionic liquids is important. In the present study, we investigated three D-glucose isomers (α, β and open-chain) in 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate in the presence and absence of water, through ab initio mol. dynamics simulations. In the complex hydrogen bonding network of these mixtures, the most interesting observation is that upon water addition every hydrogen bond elongates, except the glucose-glucose hydrogen bond for the open-chain and the α-form which shortens, clearly showing the beginning of the crystallization process. The ring glucose rearranges from on-top to in-plane and the open form changes from a coiled to a more linear arrangement when adding water which explains the contradiction that the center of mass distances of the glucose mols. with other glucose mols. grow while the hydrogen bonds shorten. The appearance of coiled open forms indicates that the previously suggested isomerization between these forms is possible and might play a role in the solubility of the related carbohydrates. The calculated IR and VCD spectra reveal insight into the intermol. interactions, with good to excellent agreements with exptl. spectra. Investigating the role of the cation, distances between the acidic carbon atom of the cation and the glucose carbon atom where ring closure and opening occurs are found, which are way shorter than dispersion-like interactions between aliphatic hydrocarbons.

Through hot water extraction, protein removal and chromatog. purification, DWPP-Is was found to be the major polysaccharide present in the stem of D. wardianum. The Mn and Mw of DWPP-Is were 29.0 kDa and 98.6 kDa, resp. Furthermore, mannose and glucose were found to be the most abundant monosaccharides in DWPP-Is. Their backbones consist of (1 → 4)-β-D-Glcp and O-acetylated (1 → 4)-β-D-Manp, which are similar to the structures of other anti-tumor Dendrobium polysaccharides. The inhibition rate of DWPP-Is treatment on SPC-A-1 cells (2 mg/mL, 72 h) reached 56.0%. Intragastric administration of DWPP-Is on A549 tumor-bearing KM mice (10 mg/mL, 0.2 mL) exhibited similar inhibition ratios to that of erlotinib hydrochloride (2 mg/mL). Moreover, the highest inhibition was observed in P-CK treatment combined with DWPP-Is, reaching an inhibition rate of 23.4%.
