The article was appeared in 《Toxicology In Vitro》. They have made some progress in their research.Category: alcohols-buliding-blocks The article mentions the following:

Estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) is often a primary target of endocrine disrupting chems. (EDCs) and therefore several biochem. and cell-based assays for the detection of chems. with estrogenic properties have been developed in the past. However, the current approaches are not suitable for the monitoring of pathway activation dynamics, and they are mostly based on expression constructs that lack physiol. promoter regulation. We recently developed MCF7 fluorescent reporter cell lines of 3 different green fluorescent protein (GFP)-tagged ERα target genes: GREB1, PGR and TFF1. These reporters are under control of the full physiol. promoter region and allow the monitoring of dynamic pro-proliferative pathway activation on a single cell level using a live-cell imaging set-up. In this study, we systematically characterized the response of these reporters to a full reference compound set of known estrogenic and non-estrogenic chems. as defined by the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD). We linked activation of the pro-proliferative ERα pathway to a potential adverse outcome by addnl. monitoring cell cycle progression and proliferation. The correct classification of the OECD reference compounds showed that our reporter platform has the same sensitivity and specificity as other validated artificial ERα pathway reporters, such as the ERα CALUX and VM7 Luc ER TA assay. By monitoring several key events (i.e. ER target activation, cell cycle progression and proliferation), and subsequently determining Point-of-Departure (POD) values, our reporter panel can be used in high-throughput testing for a physiol. more relevant, quant. temporal endocrine modulation anal. to improve human carcinogen risk assessment. To complete the study, the researchers used 4-tert-Octylphenol (cas: 140-66-9) .

The article was appeared in 《Science of the Total Environment》. They have made some progress in their research.Electric Literature of C14H22O The article mentions the following:

Dissolved organic matter (DOM) is an important organic matter fraction that plays a key role in many biol. and chem. processes in soil. The effect of biochar addition on the content and composition of soil organic matter (SOM) and DOM in an agricultural soil in Italy was investigated within a two-year period. UV-Vis spectroscopy and anal. pyrolysis have been applied to study complex components in DOM soil samples. Addnl., anal. pyrolysis was used to provide qual. information of SOM at mol. level and the properties of biochar before and one year after amendment. A method was developed to quantify biochar levels by thermogravimetric anal. that enabled to identify deviations from the amendment rate. The water-soluble organic carbon (WSOC) concentrations in the amended soils were significantly lower than those in the control soils, indicating that biochar decreased the leaching of DOM. DOM in treated soils was characterized by a higher aromatic character according to anal. pyrolysis and UV-Vis spectroscopy. Moreover, a relatively high abundance of compounds with N was observed in pyrolyzates of treated soils, suggesting that biochar increased the proportion of microbial DOM. The results from thermal and spectroscopy techniques are consistent in highlighting significant changes in DOM levels and composition due to biochar application with important effects on soil carbon storage and cycling. And 4-tert-Octylphenol (cas: 140-66-9) was used in the research process.

Name: 4-tert-Octylphenol《Neurotoxic effects of synthetic phenolic antioxidants on dopaminergic, serotoninergic, and GABAergic signaling in larval zebrafish (Danio rerio)》 was published in 2022. The authors were Shi, Ziyue;Liang, Xuefang;Zhao, Yaqian;Liu, Wang;Martyniuk, Christopher J., and the article was included in《Science of the Total Environment》. The author mentioned the following in the article:

Synthetic phenolic antioxidants (SPAs) are an environmental concern because they are widely detected in aquatic ecosystems and can pose potential threats to organisms. Studies have reported developmental deficits and behavioral changes in response to SPAs, indicating possible neurotoxic effects. However, their neuroactive potency as well as their mode of action (MoA) remain unclear. As such, this study evaluated the potential neurotoxicity of three SPAs [butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol (2,4-DTBP), and 4-tert-octylphenol (4-t-OP)] at three concentrations (0.01, 0.1 and 1 μM) to zebrafish larvae. Both 2,4-DTBP and BHT decreased spontaneous tail coiling (STC) at 28 hpf (hours post fertilization) whereas 4-t-OP increased STC. Locomotor activity, based on the velocity and distance of larvae (144 hpf) travelled, was promoted by 2,4-DTBP while it decreased in larvae with exposure to 4-t-OP and BHT. In the light-dark preference assay, exposure to either 2,4-DTBP or BHT resulted in variability in the visiting frequency to the dark zone, and larvae (144 hpf) spent less time in the dark, suggesting anxiety-like behavior. Conversely, zebrafish exposed to 4-t-OP, especially at 1 μM concentration, were hypoactive and spent more time in dark, suggestive of anxiolytic-like responses. RNA-seq was conducted to discern mechanisms underlying behavioral responses. Transcriptomic anal. revealed that gene networks related to neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction as well as neurotransmitter-related pathways were altered by all three SPAs based on gene set and subnetwork enrichment anal. Modulation of dopaminergic, serotoninergic, and/or GABAergic signaling at the transcript level was noted for each of the three SPAs, but different expression patterns were observed, indicating SPA- and dose-specific responses of the transcriptome. The present study provides novel insight into potential mechanisms associated with neurotoxicity of SPAs congeners.4-tert-Octylphenol (cas: 140-66-9) were involved in the experimental procedure.

Tang, Shuqin;Sun, Xiangfei;Qiao, Xinhang;Cui, Wenxuan;Yu, Feixiang;Zeng, Xiaowen;Covaci, Adrian;Chen, Da published 《Prenatal Exposure to Emerging Plasticizers and Synthetic Antioxidants and Their Potency to Cross Human Placenta》 in 2022. The article was appeared in 《Environmental Science & Technology》. They have made some progress in their research.Formula: C14H22O The article mentions the following:

Gestational exposure to environmental chems. and subsequent permeation through the placental barrier represents potential health risks to both pregnant women and their fetuses. In the present study, we explored prenatal exposure to a suite of 46 emerging plasticizers and synthetic antioxidants (including five transformation products of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxytoluene, BHT) and their potency to cross human placenta based on a total of 109 maternal and cord serum pairs. Most of these chems. have rarely or never been investigated for prenatal exposure and associated health risks. Eleven of them exhibited detection frequency greater than 50% in maternal blood, including di-Bu fumarate (DBF), 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol (2,4-DtBP), 1,3-diphenylguanidine (DPG), methyl-2-(benzoyl)benzoate (MBB), tri-Et citrate (TEC), BHT, and its five metabolites, with a median concentration from 0.05 to 3.1 ng/mL. The transplacental transfer efficiency (TTE) was determined for selected chems. with valid measurements in more than 10 maternal/cord blood pairs, and the mean TTEs exhibited a large variation (i.e., 0.29-2.14) between chems. The determined TTEs for some of the target chems. were comparable to the predicted values by our previously proposed models developed from mol. descriptors, indicating that their transplacental transfer potency could be largely affected by physicochem. properties and mol. structures. However, addnl. biol. and physiol. factors may influence the potency of environmental chems. to cross human placenta. Overall, our study findings raise concern on human exposure to an increasing list of plastic additives during critical life stages (e.g., pregnancy) and potential health risks. Aillon Garcia, Paula;Parga-Landa, Blanca published 《An improved proposal for using laminar copper as a biocidal material in touch surfaces in a hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU)》. The research results were published in《Environmental Science and Pollution Research》 in 2021.Synthetic Route of C14H22O The article conveys some information:

The use of copper for reducing nosocomial infections or healthcare-acquired infections (HAI) has been carried out in intensive care units (ICU) by replacing some objects generally made of stainless steel or other materials with solid pieces of copper. The authors′ proposal for a sustainable use of copper consists of introducing it in a “lamina + adhesive” format. This proposal has been tested in an ICU at the Ceuta Hospital in Spain. It has been found to provide an equally efficient solution as antibacterial material than the usual “solid” format, but with only a layer of 50 μ of copper, which is a high-cost and limited resource. After that intervention, some improvements are also proposed: a standardization of the pieces chosen to cover with a lamina of copper for saving material; and another method of replacement aiming to lower the time that the ICU cannot be used. To ensure that the proposed bonding method is harmless to human health and the adhesive does not interfere with the indoor environment by releasing toxic chems., the “lamina + adhesive” sheet has been further tested. The results and proposals are briefly shown. The experimental procedure involved many compounds, such as 4-tert-Octylphenol (cas: 140-66-9) .

Han, Yu;Hu, Li-Xin;Liu, Ting;Liu, Jing;Wang, Yu-Qing;Zhao, Jia-Hui;Liu, You-Sheng;Zhao, Jian-Liang;Ying, Guang-Guo published 《Non-target, suspect and target screening of chemicals of emerging concern in landfill leachates and groundwater in Guangzhou, South China》. The research results were published in《Science of the Total Environment》 in 2022.Related Products of 140-66-9 The article conveys some information:

Landfill sites have been regarded as a significant source of chems. of emerging concern (CECs) in groundwater. However, our understanding about the compositions of CECs in landfill leachate and adjacent groundwater is still very limited. Here we investigated the CECs in landfill leachates and groundwater of Guangzhou in South China by target, suspect and non-target anal. using high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS). A variety of CECs (n = 242), including pharmaceuticals (n = 64), pharmaceutical intermediates (n = 18), personal care products (n = 9), food additives (n = 18), industrial chems. (n = 82, e.g., flame retardants, plasticizers, antioxidants and catalysts), pesticides (n = 26), transformation products (n = 8) and other organic compounds (n = 17) were (tentatively) identified by non-target and suspect screening. 142 CECs were quantitated with target anal., and among them 37, 24 and 27 CECs were detected resp. in the raw leachate (272-1780μg/L), treated leachate (0.25-0.81μg/L) and groundwater (0.10-53.7μg/L). The CECs in the raw leachates were efficiently removed with the removal efficiencies greater than 88.7%. Acesulfame, bisphenol F and ketoprofen were the most abundant compounds in both treated leachate and groundwater. The CECs in groundwater was found most likely to be originated from the landfill sites. Our results highlight the importance of non-target screening in identifying CECs, and reveal the contamination risk of groundwater by landfill leachate. To complete the study, the researchers used 4-tert-Octylphenol (cas: 140-66-9) .

Recommanded Product: 140-66-9《Gonadal Soma-Derived Factor Expression is a Potential Biomarker for Predicting the Effects of Endocrine-Disrupting Chemicals on Gonadal Differentiation in Japanese Medaka (Oryzias Latipes)》 was published in 2022. The authors were Horie, Yoshifumi;Kanazawa, Nobuhiro;Takahashi, Chiho;Tatarazako, Norihisa;Iguchi, Taisen, and the article was included in《Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry》. The author mentioned the following in the article:

Chems. with androgenic or estrogenic activity induce the sex reversal and/or intersex condition in various teleost fish species. Previously, we reported that exposure to 17α-methyltestosterone, bisphenol A, or 4-nonylphenol induces changes in expression of the gonadal soma-derived factor (gsdf) gene accompanied by disruption of gonadal differentiation in Japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes). These findings suggest that gsdf expression might be a useful biomarker for predicting the potential effect of chems. on gonadal differentiation. We examined the gsdf expression in Japanese medaka exposed to chems. with estrogenic or androgenic activity. Exposure to the androgenic steroid 17β-trenbolone at 0.5-22.1μg/L induced the development of ovotestis (presence of ovarian tissue with testicular tissue) and female-to-male sex reversal in XX embryos, and exposure at 6.32 and 22.1μg/L significantly increased gsdf expression in XX embryos compared with controls at developmental stage 38 (1 day before hatching). In the present study, no statistically significant difference in gsdf mRNA expression was observed after exposure to 17β-estradiol, 17α-ethinylestradiol, and 4-t-octylphenol, which have estrogenic activity. In addition, antiandrogenic chems. or chems. without endocrine-disrupting activity did not induce changes in gsdf expression in XX or XY embryos. Thus, an increase in gsdf expression after androgen exposure was observed in XX embryos. Together, these findings indicate that gsdf expression might be useful for predicting the adverse effect of chems. on gonadal differentiation.4-tert-Octylphenol (cas: 140-66-9) were involved in the experimental procedure.

The article contains the following contents:

The endocrine disrupting chems. (EDCs) have been at the forefront of environmental issues for over 20 years and are a principle factor considered in every ecol. risk assessment, but this kind of risk assessment faces difficulties. The expense, time cost of in vivo tests, and lack of toxicity data are key limiting factors for the ability to conduct ecol. risk assessments of EDCs to aquatic species. In this study, a machine learning model named the support vector machine (SVM) was used to predict the reproductive toxicity of EDCs, and the performance of the models was evaluated. The results showed that the SVM model provided more accurate toxicity prediction data compared with the interspecies correlation estimation (ICE) model developed by previous study to predict the reproductive toxicity. The application of the predicted toxicity data was an important supplement to the observed data for the ecol. risk assessment of EDCs in the Yangtze River, where estrogens and phenolic compounds have been found at some sampling sites in the middle and lower reaches. The results showed that the ecol. risk of estrone, 17β-estradiol, and ethinyl estradiol were significant. This study revealed the application potential of machine learning models for the prediction of reproductive toxicity effects of EDCs. This can provide reliable alternative toxicity data for the ecol. risk assessments of EDCs. To complete the study, the researchers used 4-tert-Octylphenol (cas: 140-66-9) .

The authors were Janicki, Tomasz;Dlugonski, Andrzej;Felczak, Aleksandra;Dlugonski, Jerzy;Krupinski, Mariusz, and the article was included in《International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health》. The author mentioned the following in the article:

The phenolic xenobiotics nonylphenol (NP), 4-tert-octylphenol (4-t-OP), and 4-cumylphenol (4-CP) have the potential to seriously disrupt the endocrine system. Volatile phenols (VPs), especially those present in landfill leachate, also adversely affect the health of numerous organisms. Microbial degradation of xenobiotics can result in the formation of intermediates with higher toxicity than the precursor substrates. Therefore, the main aim of this study was to assess the changes in environmental ecotoxicity during the biotransformation of nonylphenol, 4-tert-octylphenol, 4-cumylphenol and volatile phenols by Umbelopsis isabellina using a battery of biotests. The application of bioindicators belonging to different taxonomic groups and diverse trophic levels (producers, consumers, and reducers) indicated a significant reduction in toxicity during the cultivation of fungus cultures both for nonylphenol, 4-tert-octylphenol, 4-cumylphenol and volatile phenols. The rate of toxicity decline was correlated with the degree of xenobiotic biotransformation. Removal of 4-cumylphenol and 4-tert-octylphenol also led to a decrease in the anti-androgenic potential. Moreover, this is the first report demonstrating the anti-androgenic properties of 4-cumylphenol. The results showed that U. isabellina is an attractive tool for the bioremediation and detoxification of contaminated environments. Landfill leachate contains several macropollutants and micropollutants that cannot be removed efficiently by conventional treatment processes. Therefore, an advanced oxidation process is a promising step in post or pre-treatment of leachate. In this study, the effects of Fenton and ozone oxidation on the removal of 16 emerging micropollutants including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), phthalates, alkylphenols and pesticides were investigated. The Fenton and ozone oxidation of the leachate were performed with four (reaction time: 20-90 min, Fe(II) dose: 0.51-2.55 g/L, H2O2 dose: 5.1-25.5 g/L and pH: 3-5) and two (ozonation time: 10-130 min and pH: 4-10) independent variables, resp. Among these operating conditions, reaction time played more significant role (p-value < 0.05) in eliminating di-(2-Ethylhexyl) phthalate, 4-nonylphenol and 4-tert-octylphenol for both processes. The results showed that Fenton and ozone oxidation processes had a high degradation potential for micropollutants except for the PAHs including four and more rings. Removal efficiencies of micropollutants by ozone and Fenton oxidation were determined in the range of 5-100%. Although the removal efficiencies of COD (COD) and some micropollutants such as phthalates were found much higher in the Fenton process than ozonation, the degradation products occurred during the Fenton oxidation were a higher mol. weight Moreover, the oxidation intermediates for the both processes were found as mainly benzaldehyde, pentanoic acid and hydro cinnamic acid as well as derivatives of naphthalenone and naphthalenediol. Also, acid ester with higher mol. weight, naphthalene-based and phenolic compounds were detected in the Fenton oxidation4-tert-Octylphenol (cas: 140-66-9) were involved in the experimental procedure.
