step 4-; A mixture of 43 (400 mg, 1.74 mmol), hydroxy-acetic acid benzyl ester (0.394 mL, 2.78 mmol) and Cs2CO3 (1.19 g, 3.65 mmol) and DMF (95 mL) was heated to 70 C. overnight. The mixture was acidified by addition of HCl (1M) and extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were dried (MgSO4), filtered and concentrated. The residue was purified via SiO2 chromatography eluting with DCM/MeOH/NH4OH (60/10/1) to afford 0.213 g of 44.
