A pair of stable chiral coordination compounds {[Zn(D-hpg)(bpe)]·(NO3)·(C2H6O)}n 1-D, {[Zn(L-hpg)(bpe)]·(NO3)·(C2H6O)}n 1-L (D-Hhpg = D-(-)-4-Hydroxyphenylglycine, L-Hhpg = L-(+)-4-Hydroxyphenylglycine, bpe = 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane) were successfully synthesized. Their structures were determined by single-crystal x-ray diffraction anal. and characterized by elemental anal., IR spectroscopy, TGA and powder X-ray diffraction. They are 2D layer structures that consist of left- or right-handed helical chains, resp.
