Ortho-functionalized aryl diselenides are catalytic (5.0 mol %) oxidants for the construction of esters from carboxylic acids and alcs. in the presence of stoichiometric tri-Et phosphite and dioxygen in air as the terminal redox reagents (redox dehydration conditions).
