A new strategy for the synthesis of α-alkylated ketones R1C(O)R2 [R1 = i-Pr, t-Bu, 4-MeC6H4, etc.; R2 = pentyl, isohexyl, heptyl, etc.] from secondary alcs. and primary alkenyl alcs. via a tandem transfer hydrogenation/hydrogen autotransfer process was proposed and successfully accomplished.
