The main goal of this research is direct synthesis of ethanol from methane bi-reforming reaction (H2O/CO2 methane reforming, SCMR) in a single step catalytic process. Smart nano-structured spinel ferrite catalysts with small ratio of Cu or Mn in composite with Fe cluster were prepared using ultrasonic assistance technique. Characterization data indicate the stability of the prepared ferrite structure during calcination step, so it can use for high temperature reaction. From XPS and Raman spectra, cupper ferrite shows deviation from ideal spinel structure, which increases the migration of bulk oxygen into surface to share in catalytic activity. The catalytic activity test was performed at moderate reaction condition (700 degrees C) using CO2 as soft oxidant to avoid methane combustion reaction and steam to release the alcoholic products. The two catalysts show unusual high catalytic activity and stability due to strong synergetic effect between metal and Fe. Cu-Fe gives high selectivity (similar to 50%) toward liquid product (ethanol), while Mn-Fe is more selective (similar to 70%) toward gas product (syngas). Furthermore, the chemical looping step is used to obtain ultra-stable SCMR reaction. The steam activation steps were performed for re-oxidation of reduced catalyst in addition to removal of carbon deposited. (c) 2020 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Biodiesel has become a promising alternative biofuel that exhibits problems like high cost of feedstock, poor atomisation due to high viscosity, stability issues, poor flow properties and high NOx emissions as compared to conventional diesel. Alcohols have recently drawn much attention as a low cost biofuel that, exhibit problems like low cetane number and miscibility issues. Addition of fuel additives, for example, diethyl ether (DEE), may be effective to overcome the problems with biodiesel or alcohols. In this work, the influence of DEE on engine performance and emissions were investigated for diesel/biodiesel blends, diesel/butanol blends or diesel/pentanol blends. Fuel blends of biodiesel (B20), butanol (BU20), pentanol (PN20), biodiesel with DEE (B20D10), butanol with DEE (BU20D10) and pentanol with DEE (PN20D10) were prepared. Experiments were conducted on a single cylinder diesel engine for varying load conditions at constant speed. Engine performance and emission characteristics were determined and compared.

The reaction rate of a catalyzed reaction is faster than the reaction rate of the uncatalyzed reaction at the same temperature. 3068-00-6, Name is 1,2,4-Butanetriol, SMILES is OCC(O)CCO, in an article , author is Hosseini, Seyed Fakhreddin, once mentioned of 3068-00-6, Name: 1,2,4-Butanetriol.

Biofunctional quadripartite films were developed by adding trans-Cinnamaldehyde (CIN) (0.4, 0.8, and 1.6% w/v) into chitosan (CH)/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/fish gelatin (FG) matrices. Rheological data revealed that all solutions exhibited shear-thinning and typical entangle polymers solutions behavior. Mechanical results showed that the incorporation of CIN caused a significant increase (p < 0.05) in tensile strength, while a significant decrease was observed in elongation-at-break. With increasing CIN content, the WVP of the films, which were in the range of 0.785-0.995 g mm/kPa h m(2), increased to some extent, whereas the water solubility and water absorption were reduced up to 47 and 87%, respectively. Moreover, water contact angle analysis showed that the inclusion of CIN made the quadripartite film more hydrophobic, in which the highest value achieved was 86.6 +/- 0.75 degrees at theta(t=10). ATR/FT-IR spectroscopy demonstrated the formation of Schiff-base and intermolecular hydrogen bonds between components' functional groups, which enhanced the quadripartite films' thermal stability and mechanical properties. X-ray diffraction analysis suggested compatibility among the components, and changes of the surface of the films were confirmed by SEM and AFM analyses. Likewise, the antimicrobial activity of the CIN-loaded films were proved against Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella enteritidis, and Escherichia coli. The quadripartite films exhibited in vitro DPPH radical scavenging activity (similar to 35.8%) and ferric reducing power at the maximum CIN testing concentration. The findings of this study proved that CIN-doped films could be used as promising inner functional packaging for food products. Interested yet? Recently, artificial intelligence has driven the development of shape memory hydrogels (SMHs) with complicated environmental sensitive abilities. However, current SMHs possess fundamental limitations in terms of their responsive performance and mechanical properties, which severely limits their practical applications. Herein, a triple-network composite hydrogel with Fe3+, NIR light, and thermal responsive abilities is fabricated and developed as multi-SMHs, named as PDA/CMC-Fe3+/PVA hydrogel. In this hydrogel system, the interpenetrating triple network are formed by chemically-physically co-crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) networks, and physically crosslinked carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC)-Fe3+ network. In addition, polydopamine (PDA), which is introduced into the hydrogel system by in-situ polymerization way, could not only serve as an energy converter to endow the hydrogel with NIR-based responsive ability, but also enhance its mechanical strength. Remarkably, the as-prepared PDA/CMC-Fe3+/PVA hydrogels with the optimized compositions exhibit relatively excellent mechanical properties (tensile strength = 163.48 +/- 10.42 kPa, elastic modulus = 45.42 +/- 3.96 kPa, toughness = 165.02 +/- 7.01 kJ/m(3)) due to the synergistic effect of the triple-network and PDA doping. Moreover, the composition of the hydrogel is optimized to realize a stable temporary shape and rapid recovery to the permanent shape, which is controlled by Fe3+, NIR irradiation, and thermal stimulus. The resultant hydrogels exhibit not only multi-stimulus responsive abilities, but also programmable multi-shape memory properties. The versatile shape memory properties endow potential for the materials to be used in the field of artificial intelligence.

A novel fire-preventing triple-network (TN) hydrogel was prepared and laminated on cotton fabric to improve fire-resistant performance of cellulose fabric. The TN hydrogel composed of Poly (N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm)/sodium alginate (SA)/ Poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) exhibited excellent swelling ratio, swelling-deswelling behavior and antibacterial property. Results indicated that introduction of SA could improve water retention capabilities of TN hydrogels. Thermogravimetric experiments showed that the thermal stability of hydmgels was best at a SA: PVA ratio of 2:1. Furthermore, the obtained hydrogel-cotton fabric laminates displayed efficient flame retardancy. Compared to original fabric, hydrogel-fabric laminates were nearly undamaged when exposed to fire for 12 s. This result is attributed to energy absorption as water is heated and evaporates in the hydrogel. The present work provides a new concept to prepare fire-resistant polymer fabric, which may be used in fire-protective clothing to protect the skin from burn injuries.

In recent years, many studies have been conducted on the production of edible films from emerging gums, which are mostly made from botanical sources. However, each one interacts differently with the film compounds, producing films with different properties that may improve or hinder their utilization in food packaging. Therefore, the aim of this review was to investigate and compare the physical, mechanical, thermal and structural properties of edible films produced with these emerging gums. The results of this review showed that it is possible to produce edible films with desirable physical, mechanical and thermal properties by optimizing the amounts and type of compounds in film formulations such as plasticizers, nanoparticles, lipid compounds, crosslinkers and combination of gums with other biopolymers. The future trends of this research include the deepening of knowledge to understand the molecular structures of emerging gums and to address the shortcomings of films based on these gums for their industrial-scale application in food packaging.

The Absolute Best Science Experiment for N-(2-Hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine

Enzymes are biological catalysts that produce large increases in reaction rates and tend to be specific for certain reactants and products. 111-41-1, Name is N-(2-Hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine, molecular formula is C4H12N2O, belongs to alcohols-buliding-blocks compound. In a document, author is Khan, Mohd Faheem, introduce the new discover, Product Details of 111-41-1.

In contrast to yeast biofilms, those of filamentous fungi are relatively poorly understood, in particular with respect to their regulation. Cunninghamella elegans is a filamentous fungus that is of biotechnological interest as it catabolises drugs and other xenobiotics in an analogous manner to animals; furthermore, it can grow as a biofilm enabling repeated batch biotransformations. Precisely how the fungus switches from planktonic to biofilm growth is unknown and the aim of this study was to shed light on the possible mechanism of biofilm regulation. In dimorphic yeasts, alcohols such as tyrosol and 2-phenylethanol are known to control the yeast-to-hypha switch, and a similar molecule might be involved in regulating biofilm in C. elegans. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis of crude ethyl acetate extracts from supernatants of 72 h planktonic and biofilm cultures revealed 3hydroxytyrosol as a prominent metabolite. Further quantification revealed that the amounts of the compound in planktonic cultures were substantially higher (>10-fold) than in biofilm cultures. In the presence of exogenous 3-hydroxytyrosol the growth of aerial mycelium was inhibited, and there was selective inhibition of biofilm when it was added to culture medium. There was no biotransformation of the compound when it was added to 72 h-old cultures, in contrast to the related compounds tyrosol and 2-phenylethanol, which were oxidised to a number of products. Therefore, we propose that 3hydroxytyrosol is a new signalling molecule in fungi, which regulates biofilm growth. (C) 2020 The Author(s). Reactions catalyzed within inorganic and organic materials and at electrochemical interfaces commonly occur at high coverage and in condensed media, causing turnover rates to depend strongly on interfacial structure and composition, 112-60-7, Name is 2,2′-((Oxybis(ethane-2,1-diyl))bis(oxy))diethanol, SMILES is OCCOCCOCCOCCO, in an article , author is Hill, Melanie L., once mentioned of 112-60-7, Category: alcohols-buliding-blocks.

Alcohol use disorder (AUD) and cannabis use disorder (CUD) are each associated with increased suicidal behavior, but it is unclear how their comorbidity relates to suicide risk. Understanding these associations in U.S. military veterans is especially important, given their heightened risk for suicide, high prevalence of AUD, and increasing access to cannabis. We compared associations of probable AUD, CUD, and AUD/CUD with suicide ideation, plan(s), and attempt(s) in a nationally representative sample of 4,069 veterans surveyed in 2019-2020 as part of the National Health and Resilience in Veterans Study. Among veterans who screened positive for current AUD, 8.7% also screened positive for current CUD. Among veterans who screened positive for current CUD, 33.3% screened positive for current AUD. Current and lifetime positive screens for AUD, CUD, and AUD/ CUD were each strongly and independently associated with past-year suicide ideation and lifetime suicide ideation, plan(s), and attempt(s) [odds ratios (ORs) = 1.6-8.7]. Relative to veterans who screened positive for AUD only, veterans who screened positive for AUD/CUD and CUD only had higher odds of past-year suicide ideation (AUD/CUD: OR = 3.3; CUD only: OR = 2.4), lifetime suicide ideation (AUD/CUD: OR = 1.9; CUD only: OR = 2.6) and lifetime suicide plan(s) (AUD/CUD: OR = 1.7; CUD only: OR = 6.1). Collectively, findings suggest that screening positive for CUD might be an especially strong indicator of suicide ideation and planning in veterans with and without AUD, independent of sociodemographic, military, trauma, and other psychiatric factors. These findings underscore the importance of routine screening for CUD in suicide prevention efforts, especially as cannabis becomes more widely available.

Objectives: People with alcohol use disorders (AUD) are at a higher risk for physical co-morbidities. Consequently, their daily life functioning needs to be reliably assessed and followed-up. We examined the reliability of the 6-min walk test (6MWT) in a cohort of inpatients with AUD. Secondary aims were to assess minimal detectable changes (MDC95), practice effects and associations of the 6MWT with demographical and clinical variables. Methods: Two 6MWTs were administered within 3 days to 45 (32.) inpatients with a DSM-5 diagnosis of AUD. Physical complaints before and after the 6MWT were recorded. Patients performed a standing broad jump to assess muscle strength and completed the International Physical Activity Questionnaire, the Positive Affect and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) and Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test. Results: Patients walked 636.3 +/- 82.3 meters and 638.1 +/- 77.6 meters at the first and second test. The intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.94 (95% confidence interval 0.90-0.97). The MDC95 was 15 meters for men and 9 meters for women. No practice effect was detected. The presence of feet or ankle problems or pain before the test, dyspnea after the test, impaired muscle strength and lower PANAS positive affect scores were independently related to shorter 6MWT distance accounting for 67.3% of the variance. Conclusion: The 6MWT is a reliable tool for evaluating the functional exercise capacity in inpatients with AUD. Health care professionals should consider musculoskeletal and respiratory symptoms when interpreting fitness test outcomes in this vulnerable population.

Since decades, the plant bioactives have shown tremendous promise in the therapeutic management of cancer. Lately, many synthetic drugs and natural bioactive molecules have been used in combination for potential synergism in cancer therapeutics. Sorafenib (SFN) and chrysin (CHR) form one of such promising combinations with definitive synergistic potential in cancer therapy. This has, however, given rise to analytical challenges, as it becomes quite difficult to identify and quantify two or more active moieties simultaneously in the presence of each other. Herein, we report the development and validation of an HPTLC densitometric method for analysis of SFN and CHR, in combination, followed by studying the effect of biological matrix (i.e., plasma), on the assay of both the molecules. Solvent system, comprising of toluene: n-hexane: isopropyl alcohol (7:2:1), was employed for chromatographic separation with Rf values of 0.3 and 0.5, for SFN and CHR, respectively. Validation studies established linearity for the concentrations ranging from 20 to 800 ng/band for each of the molecules, along with high degree of accuracy, precision (intraand inter-day), ruggedness, robustness, and sensitivity of the liquid chromatographic method. Specificity studies using plasma as the biological matrix, exhibited well-resolved peaks of both the molecules, coupled with high recovery values too. The aforesaid method was finally applied to the estimation of real plasma levels in Wistar rats, following co-administration of SFN and CHR as a suspension. In a nutshell, the validated analytical method can be productively applied for simultaneous estimation of SFN and CHR, for routine analysis, in drug formulations and in biological matrices like plasma.
