Soc., 1971, 93, 6205) in 60 mL of anhydrous THF under argon at -78 C. was slowly added n-butyl lithium (15 mL, 2.5 M). The mixture was stirred at -78 C. for 2 h, and then triisopropylborate (5.5 mL, 24.2 mmol) was added to the mixture. The mixture was allowed to warm to room temperature and stirred at room temperature for 12 h. The mixture was then cooled to 0 C. and hydrochloric acid (10 mL, 1N) was added to the mixture until pH was <5. The mixture was then stirred at room temperature for 1 h. The two layers were separated. The aqueous layer was extracted twice with ethyl acetate. The organic layers were combined, dried with anhydrous sodium sulfate and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to afford a yellow oil. The oil was purified by chromatography (silica, EtOAc: hexanes,1:3) to afford a white solid (1.16 g, 40%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) delta (ppm): 7.53 (m, 1H), 7.36 (m, 2H), 7.28 (m, 1H), 1.62 (s, 3H), 1.61 (s, 3H).
